SENATOBIA – Northwest freshman
Zaen Harbin will continue his collegiate tennis career at the next level, signing with first-year program Blue Mountain College on Monday.
"I'm so thankful for my time at Northwest and the skillset I learned there," Harbin said. "I want to thank coach Howell for being a great coach. I hope to transfer what I've learned at Northwest to the next level and am really excited for the opportunity to continue my career."
In his only season with the Rangers, Harbin saw time at Nos. 2 and 5 singles and Nos. 1 and 3 doubles.
He won three regular season singles matches, including a 7-6, 6-4 victory against Victor Villareal that helped Northwest to an early season upset of No. 24 Hinds. The Kossuth native was also paired with freshman
Quentin Hutchinson for most of the season in doubles play.
Harbin advanced to the quarterfinals of the MACJC Tennis Championships in April with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-0 victory over Holmes' Matthew Dubourg.
Blue Mountain College will begin its first season of play in the NAIA's Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) for head coach Warner Creekmore.
