PERKINSTON – Freshmen
Emily Newman and
Emily Standard notched the lone victory for Northwest on Saturday as the Lady Rangers fell 8-1 on the road at Gulf Coast.
Northwest earned the aforementioned point in doubles competition, as Newman and Standard claimed the 8-5 win at the No. 3 position to earn their third doubles win in four matches. The Lady Rangers did make Gulf Coast work for the win at the No. 1 slot, but the effort from the freshman tandem of
Katie Burrall and
Piper Johnson wasn't enough as MGCCC's Paulina Estrada and Karah Younger came away with the 8-6 victory.
Northwest struggled to get things going in singles play and were swept by the Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Rangers dropped to 2-5 overall with the loss, while Gulf Coast improved its record to 8-4.
Northwest will host Northeast (2-8) on Monday, April 4 at The ROC. The match is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
