SENATOBIA – Two victories in doubles competition wound up making all the difference on Tuesday afternoon as Northwest slid by Copiah-Lincoln in a tight, 5-4 decision at The ROC.
Northwest improved to 4-7 on the year while Co-Lin dropped to 3-8 overall.
Northwest notched victories at both No. 1 and No. 3 positions, as
Piper Johnson and
Katie Burrall took the 8-5 win at No. 1 to win their second straight doubles match.
Emily Newman and
Emily Standard also collected their second consecutive doubles win with an 8-5 decision at No. 3.
Singles competition was split between the Rangers and the Wolves with Northwest taking wins on Nos. 2, 4 and 6. Newman highlighted singles action for Northwest, rebounding from a second set loss to defeat Co-Lin's Susanna Ratcliff 6-4, 2-6, 10-8 at No. 4.
Northwest will close out the 2016 home schedule on Friday, April 15 against East Central. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
