NEW ALBANY –
Jumping out to an early 2-1 advantage after doubles play, Northwest followed by taking five singles matches as the Lady Rangers won their first match of the season, 7-2, at BNA Bank Park Tuesday.
Northwest improved its record to 1-3 on the season with the win.
Northwest set the stage in doubles as
Katie Burrall and
Piper Johnson took the 8-0 victory on court one, which was followed by the 8-4 victory on court three by
Emily Newman and
Emily Standard.
In singles play, the Lady Rangers didn't let up as Northwest used wins on No.'s 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 to pull away for the commanding 7-2 victory. Individually, Johnson improved to 2-2 on the season with the 6-1, 6-2 win on court two against Northeast's Kerston Jumper.
Northwest will return home to host Holmes on Thursday at 3 p.m.
