SENATOBIA – A perfectly drawn up out of bounds play with 0.9 seconds left in regulation allowed Northwest to force overtime, where they were able to edge Northeast 83-81 on Thursday night to sweep the season series.
With the win, Northwest improved to 13-4 overall (3-0 in OT games) and 6-3 in the MACJC North Division and swept the season series with both games going to overtime. Northeast fell to 10-10 and 4-5 in division play.
Northwest never led in regulation and trailed by as many as 14 with just over six minutes remaining in the third period. From there, the Lady Rangers were able to hang around and slowly chip away at the deficit in the fourth quarter of play.

Sara Lytle under the rim for a reverse layup at the buzzer, sending the Lady Rangers and Lady Tigers to overtime tied at 76-76.
Lytle, who finished with her seventh double-double of the season (27 points, 10 rebounds), gave the Lady Rangers their first lead of the game, 78-76, with a pair of free throws at the 4:04-mark of the overtime period.
Northeast continued to hang around and retained possession with 14 seconds left, trailing by two. Dashiyah Agnew, however, missed the would be game-tying layup with four seconds left, allowing
Averyale Joy to collect the rebound and seal the win for Northwest.
The Lady Rangers outscored Northeast 31-14 in bench points, with 21 of those points coming from
Brianna Williams, who also added eight rebounds and two steals. Johnson reached double figures as well for Northwest, scoring 11 points to go along with six assists and five rebounds.
Northeast was paced by double-double efforts from Shelby Wilbanks (21 points, 15 rebounds) and Bridgejae Patterson (10 points, 11 rebounds).
Northwest will travel to Mississippi Delta on Monday for a 6 p.m. tipoff. Live video/stats will be available.
