Lady Rangers Sprint Past Itawamba, 68-60

SENATOBIA – Sophomore Sara Lytle's game-high 27 points led three Northwest players in double figures as the Lady Rangers ran away from Itawamba 68-60 on Monday night at Howard Coliseum.

Northwest snapped a six-game losing streak to the Lady Indians in improving to 12-4 overall and 5-3 in the north. ICC fell to 14-5 overall and 6-2 in division play.

The Lady Rangers led from start to finish, taking advantage of a dismal 1-for-17 start from the floor for ICC. Northwest led by nine after the opening quarter and 41-25 at the half.

Northwest shot 47 percent in the first half against just 21 percent for ICC. The Lady Indians dominated the glass 34-19 with 20 offensive rebounds but were ice cold from the floor.

Northwest's lead grew to a game-high 19 points, 50-31, with 5:30 left in the third quarter before a small ICC run led by Alontra Tucker pulled the Lady Indians within 11 late in the fourth.

Lytle and the Lady Rangers improved to 7-1 at home with the victory, with her 27 points, six rebounds and four blocks leading the way. Brianna Williams followed with 11 points and nine rebounds and Janesha Johnson added 11.

ICC was led by Marlee Hatcher's 15 points and a double-double from Jabria Pounds (11 points, 14 rebounds).
