SENATOBIA –
Mark Partee scored a career-high 23 points and
Seth LeDay posted his second straight double-double as Northwest rolled to an 86-68 win over Mississippi Delta Thursday night at Howard Coliseum.
Northwest improved to 10-4 overall and 3-1 in the north division while the Trojans fell to 9-5 overall and 1-2 in division play.
Also, with the win, head coach
Bubba Skelton passed Kenneth "Cat" Robbins for first all-time in men's basketball history with career win No. 252. In his 18th season as a head coach at the junior college level, Skelton is 351-151 overall (.699).
Northwest led for all but 2:06 on the night, taking a 36-26 lead into the break after closing on a 13-2 run.
Still leading by 10 midway through the second half, Trojan head coach Derek Fears was whistled for a pair of technical fouls in a 41-second stretch and was ejected from the game.
Hoping to rally his team, the opposite happened. Northwest went on a 15-5 run to extend the lead to 20 and the game never got closer than 14 points down the stretch.
Partee scored 21 of his career-high 23 in the second half to lead the Rangers, followed by 21 and 11 from LeDay and 10 from
Antonio Wilson.
Lewis Freeman scored eight off the bench. Travon Harper had 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Trojans.
Northwest will hit the road next Tuesday, Jan. 19, traveling to Coahoma for an 8 p.m. tip in Clarksdale.
