SENATOBIA – Trailing 1-0 at the half, Northwest turned it on the final 45 minutes with three goals in a 7:29 span to pull away for a 3-1 north divsion opening win over Holmes late Friday afternoon.
Northwest improved to 3-0-1 on the year (1-0 north), its best start in school history. Holmes dropped to 1-4 (0-1).
Juan Flores' goal in the 13th minute gave Holmes a 1-0 lead they would enjoy for nearly 48 minutes.
Cameron Casey found the equalizer for Northwest in the 60th minute after a perfect cross from
Armando Barron into the box, starting a furious 7-minute stretch for the Rangers.
Karim Mueller scored the eventual game-winner in the 66th minute for his first goal of the season and
Jaylen Harvey added his second goal of the season just 2:08 later off a double assisted effort from Barron and
Jacob King.
Northwest outshot Holmes 23-9 for the match, including a 16-5 shot advantage in the second half.
The Rangers will look to build off a hot start on Wednesday, Sept. 9, traveling to East Central for a 5 p.m. kickoff.
