SENATOBIA – One goal from Brinkley Gallant was all it took for Southwest Mississippi on Tuesday, as the Lady Bears defeated Northwest 1-0 in overtime.
With the loss, Northwest fell to 3-6-2 on the season, while Southwest improved to 2-9 overall.
Despite outshooting the Lady Bears 18-2 during the match, neither team was able to come away with any goals in regulation. However, Gallant broke the scoreless tie less than two minutes into the overtime period off a header, giving Southwest the victory. It was the Lady Bears' only shot on goal the whole match against 10 for Northwest.
Kendyl Adam had 10 stops in goal to post a clean sheet for Southwest.
Northwest will return to action this weekend, hosting St. Charles (Mo.) (6-3) on Friday and Eastern Oklahoma State (2-6) on Saturday. Both matches are scheduled for 11 a.m. start times as part of a tournament format.
