Northwest Drops a Pair During Weekend Tournament

SENATOBIA – Hosting St. Charles (Mo.) and Eastern Oklahoma State on Friday-Saturday as part of a weekend tournament, Northwest dropped both matches by 3-1 and 2-1 finals.

St. Charles took an early two-goal lead on Friday, using goals by Deja Lundberg and Alexa Riley in the 19th and 38th minutes. Sierra Lasher's goal in the 41st minute off a penalty kick cut the Lady Cougars' lead in half at the break.

Riley would strike again in the 68th minute, assisting Kayla Collie on a cross into the box, to make the final 3-1.

SCCC outshot Northwest 22-3 on the afternoon and drew nine corners, constantly attacking the Lady Rangers.

Ashley Nelson finished with eight saves in the loss.

Scoreless through the first 45 minutes in Saturday's contest against Eastern Oklahoma, the Lady Mountaineers scored in the 53rd and 62nd minutes to take a 2-0 lead.

Lasher once again delivered the lone goal for Northwest, connecting on her third penalty kick in three tries, in the 66th minute. Alyssa Ames drew a yellow card in the box to set up the score.

Northwest will try and snap a four-match losing streak on Tuesday at Holmes (6-4, 2-2 north). Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. from Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland.
