WESSON – After falling behind on an own goal in the 31st minute, Northwest rallied for four unanswered goals in a 30-minute span to run away with a 4-1 road win over Copiah-Lincoln Wednesday afternoon.
Northwest improved to 3-4-1 overall while Co-Lin dropped to 0-6.
Taylor Selby's second career goal off a free kick in the 37th minute tied the match at 1-1 as the two teams went into the half all square.
Just 21 seconds into the second period, a second own goal off a deflection, a true rarity in college soccer, allowed Northwest to take a 2-1 lead and they never looked back.
Brooke Lester then scored back-to-back goals in the 62nd and 66th minutes to help the Lady Rangers pull away late.
Ashley Nelson needed only three saves to earn the win for Northwest against six saves for Co-Lin's Destiny Allen.
The Lady Rangers and Lady Wolves will meet again Friday, Sept. 25 at 2 p.m. in Senatobia.
