Northwest, Meridian Play to 1-1 20T Draw

SENATOBIA – Northwest and Meridian played to a 1-1 double overtime draw on Tuesday afternoon in the Lady Rangers' 2015 home-opener.

Northwest stayed unbeaten on the young season at 1-0-1 while Meridian moved to 1-1-1.

Meridian owned a 26-15 shot advantage and drew seven corners but had to rally midway through the second half to force extra time. Sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Nelson's 10 saves helped keep Northwest in the match.

Sophomore Jameka Barr's goal gave Northwest the lead in the 29th minute, making it 1-0 Lady Rangers at the break.

Jordyn Hull, off an assist from Reagan Dupre, helped the Lady Eagles tie the match in the 64th minute and eventually force overtime.

In the first overtime, Meridian's Abbey Pate hit the crossbar in what was the best scoring opportunity for either team. Both teams fired a couple of shots in the additional 20 minutes of time but none found the back of the net.

Northwest will host Holmes at 3 p.m. Friday in the north division opener for both teams. Live stats will be available.
