JACKSON – Former Ranger right-hander Tanner Cable will transfer to Belhaven University and play for legendary coach Hill Denson for his senior season.

The 6-foot-5, 210-pound Southaven High School product played the 2013-14 seasons at Northwest and his junior season at Delta State University.

Cable was 10-6 in 24 appearances (17 starts) at Northwest with a 4.18 ERA, two complete games, two saves and three combined shutouts. He struck out 87 in 88.2 career innings.

Cable was drafted in the 26th Round by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft, but chose to return to Northwest for his sophomore season where he was a second team all-state selection.

In his lone season at DSU, Cable made five appearances, all in relief. He pitched two scoreless innings against Mississippi Valley State, allowing one hit with four strikeouts.
