Box Score 2 SENATOBIA – The visiting Southwest Tennessee Lady Saluqis out-hit Northwest 23-9 on the day but only managed a split as the Rangers bounced back from a 5-0 loss in the opener to win the back end of the Wednesday doubleheader 4-1.
Northwest moved to 20-6 overall while Southwest Tennessee fell to 17-19.
Freshman
Rae Drewrey was the only Ranger to finish with multiple hits, going 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored. Drewrey is 6-for-9 over her last four games.
(Game 1) Southwest out-hit Northwest 15-3, led by Dallas Chipman with four hits, to hand the Rangers their first shutout loss this season. The top of the lineup finished 9-for-15 with three RBIs.
The Lady Saluqis scored two runs off four hits in the first inning off Ranger starter
Avery McCullough and never looked back. Tara Comer, who earned the victory in the circle with a complete game, three-hit shutout was also credited with the game-winning two-run single in the first.
Southwest added two more in the fourth and a single run in the seventh for the 5-0 win.
(Game 2) Northwest jumped all over starter Hannah Wright in the finale, plating three runs in the first inning, to manage a split with a 4-1 victory.
After a leadoff walk issued to
Brittany Rochelle, Drewrey followed with a two-run single three batters later and
Carla Avant singled to score Drewrey.
Southwest's lone run came in the fourth after a pitching change.
Jessica Holliday relieved
Kiley Dunagan and allowed a two-out, RBI-double to Wright but nothing more the ensuing three innings for the save.
Dunagan (6-1) went three innings, scattering one hit and six strikeouts to earn the win.
