Lady Rangers Silenced 8-1 at East Central

DECATUR – East Central handed Northwest its first loss of the season, 8-1, on Tuesday.

Beginning with singles, sophomore Anna Rosenbaum was a shining light in giving the Lady Rangers their lone win by 6-2, 6-1 finals against Brook Payne in the No. 5 spot.

Sophomore Macey Magee fought until the end against Kaley Bufkin in a heated match at the No. 4 spot, forcing a third set tiebreak. Magee lost the opening set 6-3 but rebounded for a 7-5 win in the second set. Bufkin was then able to hold her off in the third set, 10-8, to win the match.

The Lady Warriors kept control through the doubles competition with a 3-0 sweep.

Northwest will be on the road next Monday, March 30, meeting Northeast for a second time this season. First serve is set for 10:30 a.m. at the New Albany Tennis Center.
