Women's Tennis Splits a Pair vs East Central

SENATOBIA – Playing its final home match of the spring season on Wednesday at The ROC, the Northwest women's tennis team defeated East Central 5-4 to move to 5-6 on the season.  

Prior to first serve of the match, the two teams had to continue a previously suspended match from March 17 in Decatur. Northwest trailed that 4-2 and went on to fall 5-4 to wrap up a split in one day.

Northwest fell behind early 2-1 in doubles action, with Hannah Switzer/Derravia Carpenter skunking the team of Lauren Peterson/Kristine Jenkins 8-0 at No. 3 for the Lady Rangers' lone win.

After dropping matches at No.'s 1 and 2 singles to fall behind 4-1, Northwest rallied off four consecutive wins at No.'s 3-6 singles to take a 5-4 win.

Ashley Roberson, Switzer, Macey Magee and Anna Rosenbaum all won in straight sets. 

Northwest will close out the regular season on Wednesday, April 16 at 1 p.m. in Booneville.
