Rangers Run-Rule Delta Twice 8-0, 9-1

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SENATOBIA – Northwest improved to 13-3 at home on Tuesday with a doubleheader sweep over Mississippi Delta by 8-0 and 9-1 run-rule finals and has now won 20 straight over the Lady Trojans.

Northwest moved to 17-10 overall and 8-4 in the north, tied for second place in the division standings. Delta remained winless on the year at 0-20 overall and 0-10 in the league.

Roxanna Kimes, Jessica Holliday and Kiley Dunagan combined for a two-hit shutout in the opener with nine strikeouts, with Kimes taking the win to move to 3-1 on the year.

Northwest jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first thanks to an RBI-single by Kendall Alford and RBI-groundout by Kimes. The lead grew to 5-0 after three on Micalah Beall's two-run single and Haley Vance's RBI-single.

Two more runs in the fourth and a single run in the sixth ended the game in six innings, 8-0. Andi Barrett was credited with the walk-off winner, hitting a sac fly to center to score pinch runner Peyton Clanton.

In the finale, the teams exchanged single runs in the first on Sara Gunter's sac fly and Beall's RBI-groundout to make it 1-1 after one.

But it was all Northwest after that as they scored eight unanswered runs the final four innings, including four in the fourth, to cap a 9-1 win in five.

Northwest out-hit Delta 15-5 in the Game 2 victory, with Alex Barrett finishing 3-for-4 and Alford, Vance, Naomi Newcom and Tori Turnipseed each picking up multiple hits.

Beall improved to 3-1 in three innings of work while Lydia Dias tossed the final two.

Northwest will return to action on Monday, March 31 at East Mississippi. First pitch of the DH is set for 3 p.m.
