WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. – Five Lady Rangers scored in double figures Monday night to help boost Northwest in the 98-70 thrashing at Mid-South to sweep the season series.
Just three days after the Lady Rangers' first loss of the season, Northwest rallied to beat Mid-South at The Dog House. Northwest improved to 7-1 on the season while Mid-South fell to 1-8.
Mid-South found the lead early, taking an eight point cushion at the 14:29-mark, 17-9. The Lady Rangers' then went on a 13-4 run to tie the score up at 22-22, at the 9:29 mark, highlighted with a shot beyond the arc by
Brianna Williams.
The Lady Greyhounds were able to keep a narrow lead over Northwest until
Hayley Davis made a 3-pointer to put Northwest on top 35-34, and they would never trail again. Northwest went into the half leading by six, 45-39, and finished the game with a strong 28 point win over Mid-South.
Alyssia King and
Sara Lytle scored 13 points, while
Jacquelyn Brooks,
Tekevanna Young and
Kristina Mays added 10 points each.
Freshman Diamond Robinson also dished out a career-high seven assists. The Lady Greyhounds kept up with the Lady Rangers on the boards, as there was no significant differential. However, Mid-South players Dominique Dilliard (15 points, 14 rebounds) and Kierra Adams (12 points, 13 rebounds) produced double-double games.
Northwest disrupted Mid-South's play by forcing 38 turnovers, resulting in 36 points, and 10 Lady Rangers contributed to 24 steals altogether.
The Lady Rangers added 59 points off the bench, against just eight for Mid-South.
After a week off, the Lady Rangers head to Goodman to play against Holmes in the first MACJC North Division contest of the season for both teams on Dec. 4. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
