Battle for 2nd Place on the Line Thursday

SENATOBIA – Thursday night's matchup at Bobby Franklin Field between Northwest and Mississippi Delta will mark the biggest of the season for both teams to date. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.

In what will be the 64th game on record dating back to 1928, Northwest leads the all-time series 38-23-2. 

Northwest enters the game 2-4 overall and 2-1 in the north division while Delta is 3-2 and also 2-1 in the division. The winner will improve to 3-1 and own sole possession of second place in the standings.

Northwest is averaging 22.7 points-per-game on the season and 325.5 yards-per-game, fifth in the MACJC. 

Karsten Miller has thrown for 984 yards, seven touchdowns and seven interceptions and has completed 50 percent of his passes. Kyle Morgan, who made his first career start at Holmes, has thrown for 80 yards on 9-of-16 aim with one interception. 

Jamarius Mabry (22 catches, 273 yards), Jalen Gaston (19 catches, 253 yards, 2 TD) and Jacob McCrary (10 catches, 210 yards, 3 TD) lead the Rangers' receiving corps. 

Justin Crawford is the MACJC's second-leading rusher at 701 yards and 7 TD and is averaging 140.2 yards-per-game on the ground. Terreous Johnson has rushed for 226 yards on 57 carries.

Defensively, Northwest is allowing 32.0 points-per-game and yielding 343 yards a contest.

Terry Caldwell leads the team and is 3rd in the NJCAA with 71 tackles and Malik Hawkins has 58 tackles, 7.5 tackles-for-loss and 2.5 sacks. Treston DeCoud has a team-leading four interceptions, including one returned for a 15-yard touchdown. 

Delta enters Thursday night's game dead last in the MACJC in total offense at 253.2 yards-per-game and is averaging just 14 points a contest.

Devin Adams has thrown for 508 yards on 52-of-107 passing with six interceptions and no touchdowns. He's averaging 101.6 yards-per-game through the air. 

Roshard Burney is 11th in the MACJC in rushing with 342 yards and six touchdowns.

Defensively, Delta is allowing 361 yards-per-game and ranks 8th in the league.
