Box Score DECATUR – A junk goal with 56 seconds left in the first half, followed by two late second half goals, gave homestanding East Central a 3-0 win over Northwest on Wednesday afternoon at Bailey Stadium.
East Central improved to 12-1-1 overall and 5-0-1 in the north while Northwest fell to 7-4-4 and 2-2-3 in the division. The Lady Rangers are still looking for their first win since Sept. 23 after a hot 7-0-2 start.
Tamia Cavett scored right before the halftime buzzer to give the Lady Warriors a 1-0 halftime lead when a cross into the box from Katelyn Denton bounced around the front of the goal and eventually found the foot of Cavett.
Despite not recording a shot the entire 90 minutes, Northwest trailed just 1-0 late in the match until goals in the 84th and 87th minutes made the final margin look more lopsided than it actually was at 3-0.
ECCC outshot Northwest 12-0 in the match, led by three apiece from Carrissa Stevenson and Ashlan Culberson. The Lady Warriors had six shots-on-goal.
Ashley Nelson had three saves in defeat, running her season total to 108.
Northwest will host Holmes on Friday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. in the Lady Rangers' Pink game.
