Box Score RAYMOND – Playing without four-time MACJC Goalkeeper of the Week
Ashley Nelson, Northwest dropped a 4-0 decision at Hinds on Saturday for its first division loss of the season.
Hinds improved to 8-3-2 overall and 4-1-1 in the north while Northwest fell to 7-3-4 overall and 2-1-3 in division play. Both teams are in good position to make the playoffs.
Haley Claiborne gave Hinds a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute, scoring off a deflection off the crossbar after a shot by Darien Ellison (credited with the assist).
Still a 1-0 game minutes into the second half, Hinds started to pour it on with goals in the 51st, 61st and 86th minutes to pull away for a 4-0 win. Amber Thomas, Taylor Maddox and Cara Harrison were credited with goals.
Hinds dominated the match with a 27-3 shot advantage (12-2 shots-on-goal) and held the Lady Rangers without a shot the final 45 minutes. Northwest has now been shutout in five straight matches.
Sophomore
Taylor Renth, making her first collegiate start in goal, had eight saves for Northwest.
The Lady Rangers will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at East Central.
