Box Score SENATOBIA – Courtney Nolan scored 6:25 into the match to give visiting Holmes an early lead and the Lady Bulldogs never looked back in a 4-0 win Tuesday afternoon to earn a season split with Northwest.
Holmes improved to 7-4-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the north, while Northwest lost for the first time in nearly a month in falling to 7-3 overall and 3-2 in the division.
Holmes controlled the tempo from start to finish, outshooting the Lady Rangers 15-7 (9-4 SOG) and owning the edge in corners, 6-3.
Trailing 1-0 midway through the first half, Northwest's best scoring opportunity came in the 22nd minute when
Holly Newman hit the post.
Sekinah Brown and Holmes extended their lead to 2-0 just 2:50 into the second half.
Holmes would cap the scoring in the 77th and 83rd minutes, with Mara Baker scoring an unassisted goal and Miranda Gonzalez connecting on a penalty kick after a foul in the box.
Karli Blakely had a clean sheet in net with four saves for Holmes, while
Morgan Wilson had five saves and allowed four goals.
Northwest will have a week off before returning to the pitch next Tuesday, Oct. 15 against Hinds.
