SENATOBIA – Sophomore Pam Gean netted a hat-trick and visiting Meridian out-shot Northwest 20-6 on the afternoon as they knocked off the host Lady Rangers, 5-0.
Meridian improved to 3-1 on the year while Northwest evened its record at 2-2.
Scoreless midway through the first half, Gean scored the game's first goal in the 22nd minute when goalkeeper Ashlee Rogers had to come sprinting out of the box. The ball ricocheted off Gean when Rogers attempted to clear it and bounced directly back into the goal from about 25 yards out.
Leslie Bensen headed in a Merrick Watkins corner kick minutes later and the Eagles led 2-0 at the break.
Gean fired in a free kick just outside the box for her second goal in the 56th minute and would later complete the trifecta in the 85th minute. April Carrasco provided the other Meridian goal in the 79th minute.
Haley Hegwood and Katlin Polk combined in net for the shutout, stopping two shots each. Rogers closed the afternoon with eight saves and allowed all five goals.
Northwest will return to action on Friday at Holmes (3-2, 1-1 MACJC). The game kicks off at 2 p.m. from Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland.
