Parker, Itawamba Offense Too Much for Northwest in 6-0 Defeat

FULTON – Homestanding Itawamba got a hat-trick from Jala Parker and the Lady Indian offense flourished in a 6-0 victory over Northwest on Tuesday afternoon.

Itawamba improved to 3-4 overall and 2-0 in the north, while Northwest dropped to 1-5 (0-2 north).

Parker scored her first of three goals just five minutes into the match, using a well-crossed header past Lady Ranger goalkeeper Kelli Brewer in net for the 1-0 lead.

Northwest had several opportunities in the first half, but couldn't capitalize on four shots-on-goal, led by freshman Samantha Beard.

Itawamba would add a late goal in the first half from Estefany Fernandez in the 40th minute, taking a 2-0 lead at the break.

It was all Lady Indians in the final 45 minutes, as Parker capped her hat-trick with goals in the 53rd and 79th minutes. Haley Walker and Courtney Baker also found the back of the net for the home team, who out-shot Northwest 26-11 on the day.

Brewer closed the day with six saves, giving her a total of 40 on the season (15th nationally).

Northwest will return to the pitch next Tuesday, welcoming East Central to town for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
