Brandon Casey enters his fifth season leading the cheerleading squad at Northwest in the 2023-24 academic year.
Although Northwest did not repeat as national champions during the 2023 UCA/UDA College Nationals, Casey's squad still added to the trophy case, finishing second in the Open Coed Cheer Game Day category and third in the Open Small Coed Cheer division.
In 2022, Northwest captured the Open Small Co-Ed national championship with a final event score of 91.9, beating out Drury University, Wilmington University, Coastal Alabama Community College, University of Southern Indiana and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
Northwest also placed fourth overall in the Open Co-Ed Game Day competition against a mix of Division I and small college programs. The Rangers advanced to the finals of that division and came away with a fourth-place finish and 94.43 points.
In Spring 2021, Casey brought the Northwest cheerleaders back to the UCA College Nationals for the first time in over 20 years and the Rangers left the competition with two national titles. In the Open Co-Ed Game Day division, Northwest earned a 95.6 score in the finals, defeating a pair of Division I programs. Casey would then rally the Rangers from a third place semifinal finish in the Open Small Co-Ed division to a 86.5 performance score in the championship, garnering Northwest another title.
Prior to his coaching role with Northwest, Casey cheered at both Northwest and Ole Miss. He is married to the former Skylar Byram of Madison, who was named to the head cheer coaching role at Ole Miss last spring. The couple has one child, John Ragan, who will turn two in September.
