A familiar face around Northwest, Liesl Davenport enters her fourth year as the athletic academic advisor after stints in the student recruiting office and as student activities manager, cheer coach and spirit sponsor.

Under the guidance of Davenport, the 2022-23 academic year was another successful one for Northwest student-athletes. The Fall 2022 semester saw a new school record of 119 student-athletes earn President's or Vice President's list recognition, shattering the previous record of 106 set in the Fall of 2021.

Additionally, 107 Rangers made President's or Vice President's list recognition for the Spring 2023 semester, while eight Northwest teams finished with a GPA of 3.0 or better. Leading the way was the Northwest softball team, which collected a 3.77 GPA for the semester and 21 of its 22 team members accomplish a 3.0 GPA or higher.

The 2021-22 academic year was a strong one for Davenport and the Northwest student-athletes. In the fall semester, Northwest saw 106 student-athletes earn nods to the President's or Vice President's lists an 94 earned recognition for the Spring 2022 semester.

Additionally, five Northwest teams were named All-Academic Teams by the MACCC - softball, women's basketball, women's soccer, volleyball and football. The Ranger softball team compiled a 3.73 cumulative GPA, leading the conference among all sports, while the football and women's basketball teams garnered back-to-back MACCC All-Academic Team of the Year accolades.

Northwest also saw three football student-athletes earn CoSIDA Academic All-America accolades - quarterback Michael Hiers, receiver Jacoby Jones and linebacker Sam Brumfield.

Prior to her arrival at Northwest in August 2010, Davenport spent 13 years in the Armed Forces as a SERE instructor and a federal agent. She was deployed three times as the team leader for the US Air Force anti-terrorism team, twice spending time in Iraq where she earned a bronze star and once in Pakistan.

Davenport attended Northwest for two years and finished her bachelor's in outdoor recreation at Eastern Washington University in 1995.
