Catherine Carver begins her third season as an assistant softball coach for the Rangers in 2019.
Carver is involved with all aspects of the program which include defense, hitting, recruiting and scouting, and serves as the Rangers' first base coach.
Northwest has won 41 games, including finishing fifth in the 2017 MACJC standings and advancing to the conference playoffs, in her first two seasons. She has also coached six all-conference and three NFCA All-Region selections.
Prior to Northwest, Carver coached the 18U Southaven Illusions summer travel team from 2014-16.
Carver was a two-time all-north division second baseman at Itawamba Community College in 2013-14, helping the Indians to a combined 68-18-1 record and two north division titles under head coach Andy Kirk.
She was the MACJC Player of the Week as a sophomore after hitting a pinch-hit grand slam in the top of the seventh to help then ranked No. 20 ICC beat Gadsden State 8-4 on the road. As a sophomore, she was an NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete and received NJCAA Superior Academic Achievement honors.
The Hernando native was a .310 lifetime hitter for the Indians with four home runs, 24 doubles, 55 RBIs, 89 runs scored and 24 stolen bases.
Prior to ICC, Carver was a four-time all-conference shortstop at Hernando High School and also played volleyball and soccer. She was a Best of the Preps Scholar Athlete of the Year finalist as a senior and graduated ninth in her class.
Carver graduated Summa Cum Laude from Delta State in December 2016 with a bachelor's in education and a concentration in social studies.
