2011-12: Redshirted the season with a knee injury.
2010-11: Played in 14 games as a freshman...averaged 2.2 points and 1.0 rebounds-per-game...shot 34 percent (12-of-35) from the floor and 60 percent (6-of-10) from the charity stripe...dished out 13 assists against 12 turnovers and also added seven steals...scored a career-high seven points (twice) against Mid-South and Northeast...best game of the season came against Mid-South (Nov. 22) when she had seven points, six assists and two steals while hitting 3 of 7 attempts from the floor.
High School: Played point guard/shooting guard for head coach Christopher Yancey at North Panola...helped lead the Cougars to a 21-7 mark her senior year...back-to-back district champions from 2008-10...named the team’s Rookie of the Year (freshman), Most Improved Player and Hustle Award winner (sophomore), Cougar Award winner (junior) and Offensive MVP (senior) during her career.
Personal: Daughter of Susan Newsom and Lydell Shorter...has four sisters, Shanketta Newsom, Sharane Black, LaDasia Walton and Jala Walton and four brothers, Lydell Walton Jr., Marcus Matthew, Kaleb Walton and Cannon Walton...majoring in early childhood education technology...born December 6,1991.
