CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Northwest Mississippi Community College volleyball team (23-0) made history on Tuesday by moving into the NJCAA Division II Top 25 for the first time since the program was started in 2020. 

The polls were delayed by one day and didn't take into account action on Monday night, and have Northwest sitting at 23rd, ahead of Jones College (13-5) and just behind Pearl River Community College (16-4) in the standings. It marks the first time Mississippi has had three teams in the top 25 as well. 

With the win on Monday over Pearl River, the Rangers have wins over two teams currently in the top 25 and three total ranked teams on the year, with a win over then #22 Pellissippi State Community College in the opening weekend of the season. 

Northwest will have another chance to take down a ranked opponent when they face off with #18 Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (17-1) on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. as part of the Alabama Gulf Coast Classic, where they will also face off against Bishop State Community College (7-10) on Friday before taking on Snead State Community College (9-14) and Enterprise State Community College (17-5), which is receiving votes. 

That will come after the Rangers face off against East Central Community College (2-8, 1-2) on Wednesday night in a home match at Howard Coliseum, with the opening serve scheduled for 6 p.m. The match will be streamed on Ranger TV with the pregame show beginning at 5:55 p.m. Keep up with Northwest volleyball at nwccrangers.com or by following along on Ranger social media accounts.
