SENATOBIA - After a strong week in goal that saw him amass 15 saves, including seven against #5 Jones College,
TJay Gibb picked up the MACCC Goalie of the Week honor for the first time in his career.
The Rangers went 1-1 on the week, but kept in their match with Jones to the end thanks to the work in net by Gibb, and he followed it up with an encore performance against a determined Holmes Community College team that forced him to make eight saves on the way to a 2-1 win for the Rangers to close the week, helping them to their best start in conference play since the 2008 season.
On the year, Gibb has picked up 52 saves in 11 matches, saving 72 percent of the shots on goal against him and allowing less than two goals per match, sitting at 1.82 on the season. The Rangers have compiled a 5-4-2 record during that time.
Northwest last had a Goalie of the Week honor on October 15, 2024, when
Jacob Little was given the award. He would go on to earn the NJCAA Division II Goalie of the Week honor the next day.
Gibb and the Rangers will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for a road test against the Bulldogs. It comes after a conference-wide off day on Tuesday. Friday's match could potentially be moved to October 16th due to potential inclement weather.
