CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Northwest Mississippi Community College football team made a surge in the latest polls after their gritty 20-10 win over Northeast Mississippi Community College last Thursday, jumping four spots to seventh in the latest rankings after improving their record to 3-2 on the season and building a winning streak with wins in consecutive games. 

The Rangers are the second-highest team from Mississippi in the polls, trailing only Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, which moved up to second in the polls after former number one Iowa Western Community College fell to the Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons over the weekend. Northwest still holds the edge over a cluster of MACCC programs in the rankings, one spot ahead of Itawamba Community College at eight and Copiah-Lincoln Community College at nine. East Mississippi Community College sits just outside of the top 10 at 11th after their first loss of the season dropped them to 4-1. 

Northwest is coming back home on Thursday night for their homecoming game against Coahoma Community College and will be taking on a Tigers team that came just shy of taking down Itawamba in their last game after leading at the half and holding a 41-35 lead in the final minute before falling 42-41. The game will kick off at 7 p.m. with plenty of homecoming festivities prior to and during the action.
