ARKADELPHIA, AR – The Northwest Mississippi Community College volleyball team continued their stellar run through the season with a pair of victories on the road over two NAIA JV teams, defeating Henderson State College in straight sets before rolling to a sweep of Champion Christian College, where they only allowed 18 total points across three sets to the Tigers.

It improved the Rangers' overall record to 22-0 and was a good way to stay in rhythm going into a week that features a pair of ranked opponents and another that was receiving votes in the NJCAA Division II volleyball polls.

NWCC 3, Henderson State JV 0 – 25-15, 25-22, 25-12

Northwest kept up a strong hitting performance on the season, finishing their opening match against the host Jimmies with a .301 hitting percentage as a team, tallying 48 kills in the sweep, with their only real struggle happening in the second set when they had 10 errors to go with their 16 kills.

The team saw a monster match from Sofia Gonzalez, accounting for 19 of the team's kills with only three errors, hitting .390 in the match. She was the only Ranger to reach double figures, but was closely followed by Valerie Hurdle with nine and Ariana Woods with eight. Five other Rangers recorded kills, including three from Dallas White, Payton Davis, and Chloe Rodriguez.

White and Rodriguez both had 18 assists each, while the offense tacked on another three from Rose and Gonzalez.

The Rangers didn't get a huge game-blocking presence at the net, but that was largely due to their offense picking up most of the points available to the final score, accounting for 57 of the 75 points by match end. The back line did play well, picking up 52 digs, led by 16 from Rose.

NWCC 3, Champion Christian 0 – 25-5, 25-7, 25-6

The opening match proved to be the most difficult for the Rangers in the entirety of the day, wrapping up with Northwest only allowing 18 total points to Champion Christian on their way to their 21^st sweep of the season.

The Rangers' serving game had a season-best 18 aces on the way to the win, led by four aces each from Laney Wier and Woods.

Northwest also used the match to go deep into their bench, giving multiple players extra time that have been patiently waiting for their chances on the court. Kylee Garcia led the team in kills with seven, and Jersi Wilson was just behind her with six. Hurdle stacked on another five, and Amaure'I Jones joined Payton Davis with four kills each. In all, 10 Rangers tallied a kill in the match.

Davis not only was a leader in kills, but also was the top passer on the team, earning 12 assists, joined in double figures by White with another 10. The duo led the team to a .469 hitting percentage in the match.

The defense didn't have to do much work with Champion on their heels most of the match, only needing to make 25 digs along the way to the win.

Northwest will return home for one of the biggest matches of the year when they host #21 Pearl River Community College (16-3, 3-0) in a contest with major postseason implications, as the team that wins will be in the driver's seat to host the Region 23 Championship at the end of October. It is also a rematch of last year's five-set semifinal from the Region 23 Championship that was held in Ellisville, where the Wildcats earned the 17-15 win in the final set.
