Box Score 1 FULTON – It was a strong start to the season for the Northwest Mississippi Community College volleyball team, picking up sweeps of #22 Pellissippi State Community College (25-14, 25-15, 25-15) and Northwest Shoals Community College (28-26, 25-18, 25-21) to start the year 2-0 at the Itawamba Cross Over Tournament at the Davis Events Center.
NWCC – 3, #22 PSCC – 0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-15)
The Rangers didn't slip up at all in their opening match of the year, cruising to a big win in their opening match of the year, running their win streak over Pellissippi to three straight and in convincing fashion.
Northwest's attack was led by Ariana Woods, who tallied 12 kills on 21 attacks, leading the team with a .429 hitting percentage and adding three blocks along the way. Sofia Gonzalez added another eight kills in her career debut with only two errors, adding two assists and two blocks as well.
The back line for Northwest was incredibly well balanced through the opening match as well, led by Jania Rose, who finished with 12 digs as the libero. Gonzalez and Reece McIntosh both added another eight while the team finished with 49 in the three-set sweep.
In all, 11 Rangers were able to pick up a kill in the match as both Dallas White and Chloe Rodriguez both had double-digit assists, with 17 from White and 10 from Rodriguez.
NWCC – 3, NWSCC – 0 (28-26, 25-18, 25-21)
It was another strong match for Northwest, surviving extra points in the opening set to convincingly win sets two and three on the way to a 2-0 start to the season.

The Rangers have yet to drop a set on the year, marking their best start to a season. It is the first time in program history that Northwest has begun the year 2-0 with sweeps in their opening matches.
Competition continues for the Ranger volleyball team against Bevill State Community College and Dyersburg State Community College at the Itawamba Cross Over Tournament in Fulton at the Davis Events Center.
