NWCC baseball completes the sweep over Missouri State University-West Plains with 10-1 win.

The Rangers scored seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

MILLINGTON, TENN. - The Northwest Mississippi Community College baseball team (3-0) dominated Missouri State University-West Plains (0-3) to earn the 10-1 victory and complete the sweep at USA Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

NWCC 10 MSU West Plains 1

After two close games on Friday, the Rangers dominated the last game of the series. Northwest's domination can be attributed to an explosive bottom of the fourth inning that saw the team score seven runs and get out to a 7-1 lead.

NWCC would go on to score one run in the bottom of the sixth and two runs in the bottom of the seventh.

The Grizzlies only scored one run throughout the entirety of the game in the top of the fourth inning.

NWCC saw two pitchers carry the majority of the load. Tyce Powers made his first start of the season and went four innings while only giving up two hits, one run, and striking out six. Caleb Doty came in as relief in the fifth inning and went three innings while only allowing one hit, garnering three strikeouts, and receiving credit for the win.

Sophomore Hallas Lawson was the offensive standout for Northwest, going 3-4 at the plate and ended the game only a triple away from the coveted cycle. Two additional Rangers in Preston Johnson and Barrett McKenney saw the ball leave the yard for a homerun. Johnson's homerun came in his first career at bat as a Ranger.

Also, Evan Lightsey and John Whit Snopek each contributed a double to Northwest's offensive efforts. Davis Miller recorded his first career hit as a single.

Northwest excelled at taking free bases with five Rangers reaching via a walk, four reaching via a hit-by-pitch, and three Rangers advancing on the base path after stealing a base.
