PARIS, TEXAS - Northwest Mississippi Community College women's basketball (4-2) outlasted Blinn College (2-2) by a score of 41-39 in a low scoring affair.  

In a game that saw both teams scoring under 10 points in multiple quarters, NWCC was able to rely on their defense to push them over the finish line.  

The Rangers accumulated 35 defensive rebounds that prevented the Buccaneers from getting many second chance point opportunities. Overall, Northwest garnered 43 rebounds in the game.  

Sophomores Dekyra Mitchell and Alorian Story ended the game tied for the team lead in scoring at 10 points. Story was able to grab her fourth double-double this season. 

Another key player in the contest was sophomore Takera Bland. Bland nearly had a double-double with eight points and nine rebounds.  

Sophomore guard Layla Hampton a key rebounder for NWCC. Hampton accumulated nine defensive rebounds over the course of the game.  

The Rangers (4-2) will look to continue their winning ways back at home in Howard Coliseum on Tuesday, November 18 at 5:30 p.m. when they take on Arkansas State Mid-South (1-1).
