SENATOBIA - For the first time since the 2022 season the Northwest Mississippi Community College men's basketball team picked up a MACCC Player of the Week as
Demetrius Duffy picked up the award after helping to lead the Rangers to a 2-1 record last week with wins over Meridian and Northeast Mississippi.
Duffy had three double-doubles over the week, starting with 18 points and 11 rebounds against the Eagles in a 99-93 win before scoring 22 of his 24 points against #19 Jones College in the second half while also grabbing 15 rebounds. The freshman out of Tupelo was just as impressive the the Rangers win over Northeast, going for 19 points and 19 rebounds in the first win for the Rangers over the Tigers since 2020.
On the season, Duffy is averaging 15.7 points per game and 9.9 rebounds on the season and is shooting nearly 64 percent from the field while also converting from the foul line at a nearly 70 percent mark.
Duffy is the first Rangers to receive the Player of the Week award for men's basketball since Isaiah Gaines earned the honor in January 2022.
