Women's volleyball improves to #20 in week 6 NJCAA poll

Volleyball continues to climb in the NJCAA Rankings to #20

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Northwest Mississippi Community College volleyball team remained undefeated after six matches last week and moved up three spots in the most recent NJCAA Division II polls, improving to 28-0 and taking the #20 spot in week six. 

The Rangers are one of just two undefeated teams in the country, with only top ranked Kirkwood Community College holding steady with no losses at 21-0. Other teams of note include Cowley College (KS) at 23-1 in the second position, Mott Community College (19-1) in the 12th spot, Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (17-1) in 17th, and Walters State Community College (20-1) in 21st. Two other teams from the MACCC remain in the rankings, with Jones College (20-9) in 22nd and Pearl River Community College holding on to a spot at 25th with a 21-6 overall record. 

The Rangers are doing better in the Massey Rankings that came out on Sunday, still sitting in seventh in the Division II computer rankings and 13th in the power rankings.

Northwest continues their season tonight in Wesson when they face off against Copiah-Lincoln Community College, which has been the best of the first year programs in the state, holding onto a 7-11 record overall but sitting at 2-2 in conference play. The Rangers will also take on Itawamba Community College on Wednesday with the Indians entering the match at 12-10 overall and 3-2 in conference play. The week will close with a game against the Rust College JV team on Thursday on the road in Holly Springs.
