Rangers play steady at Northeast Fall Invitational for 8th place finish

Caesar Ingendorf tops individuals with 19th place finish

CORINTH - The Northwest Mississippi Community College men's golf team finished eighth at the Northeast Fall Invitational at Shiloh Ridge Athletic Club, carding 302 on day one and improving by five strokes for a 297 as a team on the second day.

Northwest was led in the tournament by Caesar Ingendorf who posted a one-over across both days, carding a one-under on the first day which included five birdies and an impressive stretch on his final ten holes where he went two-under, including a birdie on his final hole.

Day two was more consistent in that Ingendorf had more pars, but also had fewer birdies, going even on the back-nine with his only birdie on number 16, and going two-over on the front. His 145 over both rounds was good for 19th in the field of 69 golfers.

Atharv Sharma bounced back on his second day at Shiloh Ridge going three-under on the second day for the best round from any of the Rangers golfers. Day one was more unkind with a seven-over on the back-nine offsetting what was an impressive score on his front of one-over for an eight-over day.

The second 18 for Sharma was more to his form. After teeing off on the tenth hole to begin his round, Sharma played the first nine to even-par before he took off on the back nine, birdieing and eagling the first two holes before playing even on the final seven to get to five-over for the tournament and finish in 27th place.

Just a few strokes back was Braden Beverage who was the second best scorer on day one for the Rangers, going even par and spending a little bit of time at two-under after the turn before he ran into some trouble on the fourth, fifth, and sixth holes. A pair of birdies on seven and eight helped to right his ship and had him in the top 20 going into day two.

The first nine holes got to the Ranger though, and four bogey's without the benefit of a birdie had him at four-over going into his final stretch. Beverage did eagle the second and birdied the third hole but a double and a triple bogey on four and six sent the round off course and he finished at seven over for the day and the tournament in 34th place.

Cole Elander also rallied for a strong second round after he finished day one with a seven-over. A hot streak of holes on the first and second greens gave him a pair of birdies, but a pair of triple bogey's on 16 and 17 were the difference in his round.

Day two saw another triple on the 17th, but this time it was preceded by a pair of birdies on 15 and 16 before he made the turn at three over. On his second nine, he played to even par, birdieing the second, fourth, and fifth holes around three bogey's, but his consistent play had him finish at ten-ever for the tournament and a finish in 43rd.

Logan Drumwright competed in the tournament as an individual for the Rangers and had a consistent tournament finishing with an 81 on his first round and improved to an 80 on day two for a 17-over two day score and a 57th place finish. Garrett Wright rounded out the competitors on the team and bounced back from a tough second nine on his first day where he carded a 12-over, rallying to shoot a nine-over 81 on day two and birdied his final hole of the competition.

Northwest as a team finished 23-over on the team score, ten strokes behind Northeast Mississippi and four strokes better than Itawamba Community College.

The Rangers are back in action on October 6-7 when they travel to Meridian for the Jim Redgate Invitational, hosted by Meridian Community College. Information on the full schedule can be found at nwccrangers.com or you can follow along with men's golf on Ranger social media accounts.
