DECATUR - Behind four goals and an assist from freshman
Emma Jensen, top-ranked Northwest delivered an 8-0 rout of East Central on Friday evening.
Northwest scored six of its eight goals in the first half, improving to 7-0 on the season and 2-0 in the MACCC. East Central dropped to 0-3-1 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
Mari Julia Delgado struck first for the Lady Rangers within the first few minutes of regulation, with Jensen providing the assist. Minutes later,
Penny Warner scored the first of her two goals off an assist from Delgado.
It didn't take long for Northwest to stretch the lead, as Jensen connected on her first goal, thanks to an assist from Delgado. Later, Warner's unassisted goal made it a 4-0 advantage, and Jensen followed with her second score off an assist from
Lillie Grace McCutchen.Â
Allie Sifford capped off the first half scoring just before halftime, as
Caroline Hamm provided the assist. Jensen would provide the final two goals of the match in the second half, with one coming off a penalty kick and another coming off an assist from
Emma Earwood.
Northwest will return home on Tuesday, September 24, hosting 11th-ranked Pearl River at 5 P.M. The Lady Wildcats (3-1-1, 2-0 MACCC) opened conference play last week with a pair of 1-0 and 6-1 victories against Southwest Mississippi and Copiah-Lincoln.
