Box Score 2 HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - Northwest made quick work of the competition in Saturday's volleyball road trip to the Natural State, as the Lady Rangers blanked Spurgeon College and host Champion Christian College by a pair of 3-0 finals.
In the opening match against Champion Christian, the Lady Rangers took the opening set by a 25-19 margin, before repeating the same result in the second set. In the third and final set, Northwest clinched the match with a 25-16 decision.
Sophomore
Anna Lott led the Lady Rangers with 15 kills, followed by eight from
Rachel Stegall and seven from freshman
Aven Mathis. To no surprise,
Layla Dyer also led provided 37 of the team's 38 assists, with
Ava Robbins accounting for the other.
Defensively, Mathis accounted for a team-high eight digs, with seven apiece coming from Stegall and
Claire Roberts.
Kaya Coleman had four blocks in the win, including three solo blocks, while
Abbey Swift totaled three service aces.
Against Spurgeon College, the Lady Rangers took a close 25-23 opening set, before routing the opponents with 25-11 and 25-10 results in the final two sets.
Northwest has now won three straight matches, improving to 7-6 on the season. The Lady Rangers will take on Henderson State JV on Tuesday, September 16 at 2 P.M., before closing out their long road swing with a Thursday, Sept. 19 match at Freed-Hardeman JV.
