Northwest Softball to Compete in NJCAA Region 23 Tournament

Rangers to face top-seeded Jones College on Friday

ELLISVILLE - Fresh off Wednesday's 6-1 victory at Mississippi Gulf Coast, the Northwest softball team is now gearing up for its next challenge in the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament.

Advancing to the tournament for the fourth time in each of the last four seasons, coach Chelsea Bramlett's squad will first meet top-seeded and No. 4 nationally-ranked opponent Jones College on Friday afternoon at 3 P.M. from Community Bank Park. The tournament is a double-elimination bracket, with the winner facing the victor of Pearl River and East Central on Saturday, with the two losing teams facing each other in an elimination game.

Copiah-Lincoln is the host of the other four-team bracket, with the Lady Wolves welcoming LSU-Eunice, Hinds and Northeast to Wesson. The winner of the two region tournament brackets will meet on Saturday, May 11 for the Region 23/Gulf District Championship.
