CHARLOTTE - Following a brief absence from the NJCAA Division II Softball Rankings, Northwest rejoined the national polls in the latest rankings on Monday afternoon, checking in at 20th overall.
Northwest went 3-1 last week, sweeping Coahoma and earning a split against No. 6 Jones College. The win against the Lady Bobcats helped the Rangers improve to 19-13 overall and 9-6 this season against nationally-ranked opponents.
Northwest is one of seven NJCAA Region 23 teams in this week's national rankings, including six from the MACCC. Copiah-Lincoln and Pearl River are slotted No. 2 and No. 5, respectively, while Jones College sits at sixth overall. East Central and Hinds are the other two conference teams ranked, checking in at No. 12 and No. 15.
Outside of the MACCC, LSU-Eunice remains eighth in the rankings. Parkland College, Louisburg (N.C.) and Murray State College (Okla.) make up the rest of the top five at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.
Now 6-10 in the MACCC, Northwest will embark on a four-date road swing over the next two weeks, beginning with Thursday's rescheduled doubleheader at Northeast. Start times are scheduled for 2/4 P.M. in Booneville.
