CHARLOTTE - Following a 3-2 week that featured a sweep of Coahoma and a split at No. 7 Jones College, Northwest has inched up another spot in the latest NJCAA Division II Baseball Rankings, released Monday afternoon.
Now 30-11 on the season, the Rangers moved from No. 17 to No. 16 in the polls, joining three other MACCC programs in the national rankings. East Central stayed put at No. 2, while Pearl River remained at No. 4 and Jones College slid down one spot from seventh to eighth.
Additionally, Mississippi Gulf Coast was unranked this week, but was receiving votes. Fellow NJCAA Region 23 foe LSU-Eunice also sits atop the rankings as the No. 1 team in the nation for the second consecutive week.
Wallace-Dothan (Ala.) and Brunswick (N.C.) round out the top five at No. 3 and No. 5, respectively.
Northwest has three remaining home dates on the regular season schedule, starting with Saturday's twinbill against Meridian, scheduled for 2/5 P.M. Both games will be carried on Ranger TV.
