MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Despite giving up four unearned runs in the bottom of the first, Northwest scattered runs across the next few innings before scoring four in the top of the seventh, earning a 7-4 victory at Rhodes College JV on Monday.
Drew Lamb earned the win on the mound for Northwest, while
Baker Walker picked up the save in his first collegiate appearance on the mound. The Rangers also finished with six hits, led by two apiece from
Jackson Jenkins and
Walker Maranto.
Maranto and
Matthew Roncalli accounted for one double each, while Jenkins brought in two runs with his single in the seventh inning.
Payton Sanders tossed the first 1.2 innings on the mound, gathering three strikeouts. Lamb tossed the next 4.1 frames, issuing six strikeouts against one walk, while Walker cleaned up with a two-strikeout effort in the top of the seventh.
With the win, Northwest improved to 32-12 on the season. The Rangers will step back into conference play on Wednesday against East Mississippi, scheduled for 2/5 P.M. start times at Jim Miles Field.
