CHARLOTTE - After debuting at No. 18 in last week's NJCAA Division II Baseball Rankings, Northwest has checked in at No. 17 in the latest poll, released Monday afternoon.
Northwest (25-9, 10-2 MACCC) finished the previous week with a 4-1 record, sweeping Holmes and splitting on the road at Hinds. The Rangers led off the week with a rain-shortened 9-8 victory against Rhodes College JV.
Northwest is one of four MACCC teams represented in this week's edition of the rankings, not including NJCAA Region 23 foe LSU-Eunice, which moved to the No. 1 spot for the first time this season. The previous top-ranked team, East Central, fell to No. 2, followed by fourth-ranked Pearl River and seventh-ranked Jones College.
Wallace-Dothan and Iowa Central make up the rest of the top five at No. 3 and No. 5, respectively.
Following today's road non-conference game at Jackson State (Tenn.), Northwest will visit Coahoma at 12/3 P.M. on Wednesday, April 3, before traveling to No. 7 Jones College on Saturday, April 6 at 2/5 P.M.
