MOORHEAD - Sparked by a career-high 22-point effort from
Ja'Quise Richmond, four Northwest players reached double figures amid a 93-83 loss at Mississippi Delta on Monday evening.
Northwest led by two at halftime, 43-41, but were outscored 52-40 over the course of the second half.
Colain Brown finished the game with a double-double, scoring 15 points with 10 assists.
Shavurdacour Nicholas netted 18 points with three rebounds, while
Keanu Patrick added 15 points and six rebounds. Patrick joined Richmond as the Rangers' leading rebounder, as the Lake Charles, La. native also came away with six boards.
Mississippi Delta had three players finish in double figures, led by a whopping 31 points and seven rebounds from Davion Traylor. Andrew Mancell narrowly missed out on a double-double, earning 12 points and nine rebounds, while Bralyn Mayfield finished with 18 points of his own.
Mississippi Delta shot 59 percent from the floor, compared to 49 percent from Northwest. The Trojans also got the better of the Rangers from beyond the arc and at the free throw line, with MDCC shooting 40 percent from three-point range and 69 percent from the charity stripe. By comparison, Northwest finished just 25 percent from three-point land and 47 percent from the free throw line.
Northwest dropped to 2-5 overall with the loss. The Rangers will host Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas at 6 P.M. on Thursday, December 5, marking the semester's home finale.
