MERIDIAN - Northwest took sizable leads early in all three sets, as the Lady Rangers routed Meridian by a 3-0 final on Wednesday evening.
Northwest improved to 17-6 overall and 4-0 against conference competition, while garnering the program's 13th straight victory. With the loss, Meridian fell to 1-16 on the season and 0-4 in the MACCC.
Northwest led 16-8 midway through the opening set, taking a 25-13 decision. The Lady Rangers picked up where they left off to start the second set, turning a 10-2 lead into a 25-12 decision, jumping out to a 2-0 match lead. Northwest clinched the match with a 25-11 victory in the third set.
Reigning MACCC Offensive Player of the Week
Rachel Stegall led the Lady Rangers in kills once again, earning 11 for the evening.
Maddie Smith provided seven kills of her own, while leading the team with 10 digs.
Aven Mathis totaled eight digs and led the Lady Rangers with a pair of service aces, while
Abbey Swift and
Layla Dyer finished with two aces as well. Dyer once again led Northwest with 22 total assists, while
Kaya Coleman had four blocks.
Northwest returns to Howard Coliseum on Saturday, October 5 for a 12/2 P.M. doubleheader against Henderson State JV. The two teams met earlier this season, with the Lady Rangers taking a 3-1 victory on September 16.
