Northwest-Itawamba Game Moved to Friday, November 1

Winner advances to MACCC Playoffs

FULTON - Due to weather concerns, Thursday evening's regular season finale between Northwest and Itawamba will now take place on Friday, November 1 at 7 P.M.

Major postseason implications are on the line for this week's battle between the Rangers and Indians, as both teams need to win to reach the MACCC Playoffs. Northwest (7-1, 5-0 MACCC North) is coming off last week's 37-35 thriller against Holmes, while Itawamba (6-2, 4-1 MACCC North) shut out rival Northeast last Thursday.

Both teams will wrap up a postseason appearance with a win on Thursday, but a win for the Rangers would make Northwest the MACCC North Division champions. A win for Itawamba would at least grant the Indians a playoff berth, but the Indians could also capture the division title with a win and a loss for Holmes, which faces East Mississippi.

Northwest could still reach the conference playoffs with a loss, but the Rangers would also need East Mississippi to defeat Holmes. In that scenario, ICC would capture the No. 1 seed from the MACCC North Division, while Northwest would finish as the No. 2 seed.

In the all-time series against Itawamba, the Rangers hold a 44-26-1 lead, with Northwest earning a 38-13 victory in last season's meeting in Fulton. Although the Rangers have won each of the last four meetings, the Indians are still a dangerous team to play late in the season, with ICC winning close games in 2017 and 2019. (Northwest was ranked within the top five of the national rankings in both of those games.)

Due to operational and broadcast conflicts involving the NJCAA Region 23 Volleyball Tournament in Senatobia, Friday's game will only be live streamed by Itawamba at letsgoicctv.com/red.
