SENATOBIA - Despite trading points back and forth with Meridian early in every set, Northwest pulled away down the stretch each time, picking up a 3-0 victory on Monday evening.
Northwest captured the first set by a 25-9 margin, followed by 25-16 and 25-12 decisions in each of the following sets. The Lady Rangers improved to 23-8 on the season, while bolstering their MACCC record to 7-2.
With the loss, Meridian dropped to 1-23 overall and 0-9 in conference play.
Maddie Smith finished with a team-high 11 kills, highlighting the Northwest offense.
Kaya Coleman also compiled nine kills of her own, while
Rachel Stegall followed with five kills and a team-best six digs.
Layla Dyer totaled 30 assists in the victory, while Coleman accounted for a team-leading six blocks. Smith and
Claire Roberts also finished with three blocks apiece.
Additionally,
Abbey Swift was credited with four service aces, followed by three from Dyer.
Northwest caps off its regular season schedule on Wednesday, October 23 against Northeast. The match will serve as Sophomore Night for the Lady Rangers, as Coleman, Dyer, Stegall, Swift,
Ally Grimes and
Anna Lott will all be honored.
