PARK HILLS, Mo. - Sophomore
Jada Jelks provided two goals and one assist, including two scores back-to-back, helping No. 3 Northwest to an 8-0 triumph against Jefferson College on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman
Emma Earwood also scored her first collegiate goal and chipped in a pair of assists, as the Lady Rangers captured their fourth straight season-opening victory. Since
James Beattie took over as head coach during the delayed COVID-19 season, Northwest has outscored its opening day opponents by a combined 31-0 margin.
Northwest also out-shout Jefferson College 35-1 overall and 20-1 on-goal, with the Lady Vikings' lone opportunity coming within the final 10 minutes of the match. Despite not recording a save, freshman goalkeeper
Anna Kathryn Harrell captured her first win.
Northwest attacked the goal early and often in the first half, finally punching through a goal in the ninth minute with an unassisted shot from
Mari Julia Delgado. The Lady Rangers held the 1-0 lead through the next 18 minutes of the half, before
Emma Wilson connected with Jelks in the 27th minute.
Just a short time later, Jelks once again found the back of the net off a feed from Earwood, stretching the gap to 3-0. In the 32nd minute, Earwood collected a score of her own off a connection from Jelks, pushing the Lady Rangers to a 4-0 advantage.

Raegan Tucker for one more score, giving Northwest the strong 5-0 advantage at halftime.
Jefferson College tightened up on defense as the second half began, stifling the Lady Rangers' offense for the first 20 minutes. However, Northwest finally broke through in the 67th minute, as Earwood assisted
Brandy Hernandez on a goal, moving the score to 6-0.
In the 76th minute, sophomore
Addison Vargas netted her first career goal off an assist from freshman
Sophia Lopez. The final blow came in the 79th minute, when Alexandria "Penny" Warner tapped in a score from
Avery Hooker.Â
Warner took a team-high five shots in the win, with four of those occuring on-goal. Wilson and
Jadyn Duran also finished with four shots apiece.
Callie McMurtrey provided the lone shot for the Lady Vikings, with Olivia Beck tallying seven saves in the second half. Sharayah Donovan started the first 45 minutes in the net for Jefferson College, taking the loss and capturing five saves.
Northwest was whistled for nine fouls, against three for Jefferson College. The Lady Rangers also took nine corner kicks in the win.
Now, a nationally-ranked battle looms for the Lady Rangers, as Northwest takes on 12th-ranked South Suburban College on Sunday at 2 P.M. No live stream will be available, but scoring updates will be provided via
